I have, however, rated this novel a 3 out of 5 because I think the more exciting parts of the book could have been described in a better way, making them more interesting, such as when Cessie and Popsicle sail away in a small boat from England to France. I enjoy this as it makes me forget I’m just reading a novel and allows me to feel that I’m actually leading another life and having exciting things happen to me.

Because the reader can understand them so well, it allows the reader to feel as if they are actually in the story as one of the characters. The other is Popsicle, who despite being an elderly gentleman, is described so that even though I had nothing in common with him, I still understood him and could sympathise with him. One of the two main characters, Cessie, is a young girl around my age and her thoughts and ideas are much the same as mine would have been if I was in her shoes. This is a good story, as it has lots of the characters’ emotions in it, which helps the reader understand how the character is really feeling.
